Belief

Vacant words and artless voices,
Spurious lives and hopeless choices.
Self important in a guileless world,
Performing precisely as they are told.
Lying between nought and nought,
Never sure of what they sought.
Blinkered between the narrow scope,
With cataract eyes to vainly grope.
Never to pause, then to wonder why
Who frames the rules by which they
comply.
Failing to fathom a place in the design,
Grasping near dogma to miniature minds.
Fearing the night, they worship the false,
Enslaved to edicts they cannot repulse.
Taboos engendered, on the whim of chance,
Bigotry fostered by a gruesome romance.
Herded to badges, symbols of no choice,
Individuality consumed amidst the noise.
Contrary devices dismissed with disdain,
Alternate counsels condemned as insane.
Aeon on aeon the folly does age,
Choral confirmation of false patronage.
With this deceit are fates consigned,
To the glory of faith and genocide.
